RESEARCH UPDATE |
One of the most interesting keynote presentations at the 8th EMDR Europe Conference in Paris was by Bessel van der Kolk when he presented the results of his latest random controlled study. You can now download the full study. It certainly presents EMDR very positively. |
Can an elephant suffer PTSD? |
Dr Bradshaw, a psychologist from the Pacific Graduate Institute, California has published a study which shows that the increase of attacks by African elephants on humans may be a result of the elephants suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder because they have witnessed their families being culled or attacked by humans. If true it means that the neurological similarities between animal and human brains are even greater than we ever supposed. If anyone can come up with method for treating a 5 ton angry elephant with EMDR it might prove very valuable.

8th EMDR EUROPE CONFERENCE |
The 8th EMDR Europe Conference was held in Paris in June 2007. It proved to be a resounding success with over 900 EMDR practitioners from 48 countries. There were four full-day pre-conference workshops, keynote lectures from world renowned speakers such as David Servan-Schrieber, Bessel Van der Kolk, O Van der Hart and Bob Tinker, plus two full days of cutting edge presentations on the latest developments in EMDR. The EMDR Europe annual conference is, of course, the main EMDR event of the year and a chance to meet and network with EMDR colleagues from throughout the world.
